Our Focus Areas
We focus where evidence is most needed and least available — in contexts where data collection is difficult, implementation is complex, and local solutions matter most.
WHY FOCUS AREAS MATTER
Concentration Over Coverage
Many organizations try to do everything. We have learned that focused, deep work in specific sectors produces better evidence and stronger change than spreading resources thinly across many areas. Each of our focus areas has been chosen because there is a real evidence gap — and a real opportunity to improve outcomes for communities in Tanzania and across East Africa.
WHERE WE WORK
Six Areas of Concentrated Focus
Youth Employment & Skills Development
Young people in Tanzania and East Africa face a skills gap that is well documented and poorly addressed. We work with organizations to research employment barriers, design training programs, and evaluate what actually improves youth economic outcomes — not just participation rates.
Health Systems Strengthening
Health outcomes improve when health systems have reliable data, trained staff, and accountable processes. We support health-focused organizations with MEL design, data systems, and program evaluation that connects evidence to service delivery improvement.
Education & Learning Outcomes
Access to school is not the same as access to learning. We help education programs measure what children are actually learning, identify where the system is failing, and design evidence-based improvements at the classroom and community level.
Agricultural Value Chains
Smallholder farmers across East Africa face market, climate, and information challenges that reduce income and food security. We support agricultural programs to gather reliable field data, evaluate intervention effectiveness, and design locally appropriate solutions.
Gender & Social Inclusion
Meaningful inclusion requires more than counting women in a beneficiary list. We help programs design gender-sensitive data collection, analyze differential outcomes, and measure whether inclusion commitments are translating into real change.
Institutional Capacity & Governance
Strong institutions require good data about their own performance. We work with government departments, local NGOs, and civil society organizations to strengthen internal monitoring systems, improve reporting quality, and build organizational learning culture.
